The day I first heard about prolonged QT syndrome Matt and I were together for a few weeks if not a bit longer, the spark and bond between us was (still is lol!) so strong it was almost instant! as cheesy as it sounds, so when he said to me I have something to tell you later I thought he was going to tell me he loved me! lol! but he didn’t he told me he has a heart condition called prolonged QT syndrome, I could tell it meant a lot to him telling me and it’s definitely something I would have never guessed he was so active working full time, we met in a night club and we danced the night away so it was a total shock, I knew I was falling for him big time so it did upset me to think any harm could come to him, at one point I was worried he was breaking up with me but now knowing more he was worried I would break up with him! As if! He’s stuck with me forever! Haha! Me being me (nosey! And curious about everything!) was intrigued but most definitely not put off like he was worried about, and I was asking him a million and one questions I could tell he wasn’t particularly comfortable but it meant a lot that he’s willing to share this with me, but he really did help me understand what it was, I learnt that your heart beats with p q r s t waves and the beat between the p and q would be longer and can mess up his heart which could lead to a cardiac arrest. It can be really scary stuff but we won’t be living in fear when we have an amazing life to live! It definitely makes me love and appreciate him that extra bit more! Matts always tried to keep this a secret as he doesn’t want to be treated any different from anyone else – he has never shyed away from hard work or getting involved in activities (that’s something I really love about him!) and he’s finally given me permission to write about it, I’ve been telling Matt how much of an inspiration he is, never ever does he use his condition to hold him back from anything he wants to do he has worked in fairly strenuous jobs to provide for his family which is why I had such a strong passion to build my business up so he can set up his own business and not have to work in a strenuous job. I wouldn’t have built it with out his continual support and now we have achieved that 1st goal! Since Matt telling me, there has been much more research about this and it’s still going, I’ve heard more and more events where people have the same condition or similar, the case of the footballer who collapsed on the football pitch for instance, in many cases people don’t know they have this condition until an incident like that happens. At the moment there’s treatments; medication, pacemaker, ICD (defibrillator) but there is yet to be a cure, however I’m hearing within the next 10 years with their current research going the way it’s going there could be a cure!
The reason why I’m writing this is because Matt has always felt uncomfortable about it incase he gets treated differently, and I bet their are many other people out there who feel the same so this is to tell you your not alone and don’t let anything hold you back, I think he’s an inspiration and proof that conditions and illnesses doesn’t have hold you back from living an amazing life. Since us beginning to build our empire together we are now planning future businesses ventures into property & other investments, looking forward to going to Mexico together in October and Vegas in December. All this has done is make us determined to live life to the max and appreciate each other everyday 💝
