Urgh flu season is well underway….more and more people are taking antibiotics which can lead to a negative implications later down the line.
I find it really interesting that every year we have a massive outbreak of flu directly after our season of binge eating and drinking all that scrummy food and drink…. scrummy, but not usually healthy! Backed up by the media making big news with their scary head lines….
Jan 12th 1990- “serious flu strains”
Jan 5th 1994 “Flu misery”
Jan 7th 2000 “Flus Blues”
Jan 2017 “NHS fears worst breakout in history” “Winter Flu, should we expect the worst”
Jan 2018 “Worst Flu pandemic of the 20th century”
Notice, they all have something in common? January….
Over the Christmas period we over indulge in lots of delicious food and drink that looks so attractive on those glamorous Christmas adverts, but these foods contains sugars, caffeine, fats, alcohols… and these will start to build up toxins in our body. When you are taking in more than your body can eliminate an accumulation of toxins build up in your bloodstream and this is the primary cause of illnesses.
You will notice your body showing signs that it’s struggling with this build up by responding with symptoms to help eliminate these toxins,
Noticeable one is through out skin & lungs.
Your body’s response to a build up of toxins could be any of the following…..
joint pain, cough, low energy, headache, blemishes and ache, rash, cramps…. to name a few —- sound similar to anything?
So how do we claim back our energy to ensure our year will be a prosperous one like we committed to on the 1st Jan?
1.First an foremost, our bodies are crying out for water, its no surprise really knowing 84% of our blood is made up of water, blood plasma is 98% water! 78% of our brain is made from water and our lungs are 90% water! Get into a good habit of having 2 glasses of water at least every 3 hours, I challenge you to do this for the next 30 days, take a picture of yourself before you start this challenge and then again 30 days later, your skin will look like its had a filter! Your eyes will have more sparkle as they’re hydrated.
2.Practice good breathing techniques…. ok so some of you might be thinking… is she actually trying to tell me how to breathe? lol! Well Yes! The most important component to human health & vitality is oxygen, its a short version of events but ultimately oxygen fuels our cells and releases energy. Most people are shallow breathing and not breathing in enough oxygen for your body to be running at its best and this tends to lead to headaches.
Put some lemon in your water as it promotes hydration, a good source of vitamin c, which also has a very positive impact of the skin. Helps with digestion, and helps keep your breath fresh.
Take the time to do some guided mediation, youtube is great for this!
3. Eat your greens! There is a reason why your mum has said it all your life, a lack of a green diet will lead to stress, fatigue, depression and illnesses. If the body becomes too acidic, cells begin to weaken and breakdown and thats when you will start to see it in your skin, such as, premature ageing, wrinkles, ages spots and feel it in your well being, for instance hormonal imbalance, memory problems, blood pressure and eyesight to name a few…
Lemon is our wonder product again! Why not drizzle some on your salad!
4. Have a fresh smoothie a day to satisfy your sweet cravings and the while making your body feel amazing!
5. Get moving….
The Body was designed to be in motion, if it is left to do nothing it will become stagnant, when you rest for too long you rust! We become lethargic, intellectually lazy, tired and start to develop pain and illnesses. Keep your body alive by keeping it moving!
6. Mindset….
So now you’re thinking she’s asking me to think myself well? lol Yes you’re right again! But let me tell you, there is a massive amount of facts and scientific evidence to back this up, so hear me out and then see what you think….
A lot of the time the bacteria hitting our bodies are actually already there, they do play a part in us coming down ill but a bigger part is how our bodies can handle it, depending on how well we look after our bodies can be the difference between “coming down with” or symptom free!
When you think negatively or feel stressed out your body produces a hormone called cortisol which in small doses helps us manage stressful situation well however if you’re finding you’re thinking negatively too often this hormone becomes toxic for your body and can lead to weight gain, tummy pains, aches and pains, frequent cold and depression
When you think positively it exercises your mind, some medical patients have beaten odds stacked highly against them by refusing to believe a negative prognosis, instead surrounding them with family, friends and comedy films.
Endorphines, Serotonin, dopamine & oxytocin are your happy hormones
But it is serotonin that is produced when you think happy thoughts and helps improve our body’s health in many ways and can act as a healing chemical in our body! The experts are fully aware on how good serotonin is for our bodies, In fact, most of the antidepressants focus on the production of serotonin in our brain.
Now can you see that it isn’t a coincidence that you feel more energetic and relaxed when you are thinking positively, or that you feel lazy and tired if you are thinking negatively?
if you’re stuggling with how you feel right now know that these steps will help you make positive moves in the right direction,
Thank you for reading
